The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
