The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Reckoning for mankind is drawing near, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 Rather they said, “These are confused dreams, but in fact he has fabricated it – but in fact he is a poet; so he must bring us some sign, like those who were sent before.” 5 Not a city before them which We destroyed believed; will they then believe? 6 Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message. 7 And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. 8 Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
