Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, who cried lies to the encounter of the world to come, and to whom We had given ease in the present' life, 'This is naught but a mortal like yourselves, who eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
