And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 "And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity." 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
