Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is cleft asunder, 1 when the planets are scattered, 2 when the seas swarm over, 3 And when the graves are overturned. 4 everyone shall know all his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 5 O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful, 6 who created you, formed you and proportioned you? 7 in whatever composition He wanted. 8 No! But you deny the Recompense. 9 Surely, there are guardians watching over you, 10 noble scribes 11 Who know what you do. 12 Surely the virtuous shall be in Bliss, 13 The wicked certainly in Hell: 14 [a fire] which they shall enter on Judgment Day, 15 And will not be able to hide from it. 16 How can you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 17 Again would that you only knew how terrible it really is! 18 [It will be] a Day when no human being shall be of the least avail to another human being: for on that Day [it will become manifest that] all sovereignty is God's alone. 19
