So did you observe him who turned away? 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 and that his work is surely seen 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 and covered them with torment. 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
