Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 nor a loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
