The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
