۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 (On Abraham's arrival) they said: "Abraham, are you he who has done this to our gods?" 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said, 'O fire, be coolness and safety for Abraham!' 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And Lot -- to him We gave judgment and knowledge; and we delivered him from the city that had been doing deeds of corruption; they were an evil people, truly ungodly; 74 And We took him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good. 75

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
