The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
