The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
