Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
