The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man. 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25
