Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
