The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
