The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
