The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: 4 and taught to him 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 25
