The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
