And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
