The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and the night that falls, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
