The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 What is your opinion if he were upon guidance, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
