The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day resplendent 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 But save him who fears 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
