(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for, 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 and that the final end is with your Lord, 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Will you, then, wonder at this? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
