And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon." 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
