The people of Lut rejected the messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 He said, "I am one of those who abhors your ways. 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 then We totally destroyed the rest, 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
