And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 "And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity." 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
