The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
