The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
