The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
