Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the dawn, 1 By the Nights twice five; 2 Consider the multiple and the One! 3 And the night when it departeth, 4 Is there not an evidence in this for those who have sense? 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 the people of Iram, the city of many pillars, 7 the like of which was never created in the land, 8 And with Thamud who carved rocks in the valley; 9 And the mighty Pharaoh 10 Who all waxed exorbitant in the cities, 11 And increased therein the corruption. 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 Your Lord is certainly in wait. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". 16 By no means! But ye honour not the orphan, 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. 18 and greedily devour the entire inheritance, 19 And you love wealth with much love! 20 Surely when We pound the earth to powder grounded, pounded to dust, 21 And your Lord comes with the angels in rows, 22 And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? 23 He will say: 'Would that I had forwarded (good works) for my life!' 24 On that Day no one will punish as He punishes, 25 And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind. 26 O satisfied soul, 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing Him. 28 So enter among My servants, 29 yea, enter thou My paradise!" 30
