A company of the former peoples 39 and a throng of the later folk. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 shall eat the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 lapping it down like thirsty camels.' 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 And have you seen the fire that you ignite? 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
