Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha, Meem. 1 A revelation from [God], the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful -- 2 a divine writ, the messages whereof have been clearly spelled out as a discourse in the Arabic tongue for people of [innate] knowledge, 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 They say: “Our hearts are securely wrapped up against what you call us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between you and us there is a veil. So act; we too are acting.” 5 Say: 'I am only a mortal, like you are. To me it has been revealed that your God is One God; so go straight with Him, and ask for His forgiveness; and woe to the idolaters 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
