No! By the moon 32 By the night when it departs. 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to humankind, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 except the people of the right hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 Of evil-doers: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 "Till death overcame us." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were startled donkeys - 50 running away from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
