Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In high empyrean 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
