The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 While he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon, 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 Thus He revealed unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 And Manat the other third? 20 Are yours the males and His the females? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
