Al-Infitaar
Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder, 1 And the stars dispersed, 2 when the seas swarm over, 3 and when the graves are overturned 4 (Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back. 5 O man! What is it that lures you away from your bountiful Sustainer, 6 who created you, fashioned you and proportioned you, 7 in whatever form He pleased? 8 Despite this, you deny the Day of Judgment, 9 you do so the while there are watchers over you; 10 noble recorders, 11 Knowing all what you may do. 12 Most surely the righteous are in bliss, 13 And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell; 14 [a fire] which they shall enter on Judgment Day, 15 and which they shall not [be able to] evade. 16 They will never be able to escape from it. Would that you knew what the Day of Judgment is! 17 Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? 18 On that day, no soul will be of any benefit to any other soul. On that day, all affairs will be in the hands of God. 19
