The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the mount. 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 there is none to avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
