The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
