And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 no caring friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
