And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ Away! away with that wherewith ye are promised; 36 "There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected! 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 [Whereupon the prophet] would say: "O my Sustainer! Succour me against their accusation of lying!" 39 God replied, "After a very short time they will certainly regret for their deeds." 40 So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. 41 Then, after them, We brought forth other generations. 42 Every nation has an appointed life span. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. 49 And We made Mary's son, and his mother, a Sign, and We gave them refuge on a lofty ground, a peaceful site with springs flowing in it. 50
