The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
