Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the scatterers (the wind) scattering, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
