This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished. 213 And warn [whomever thou canst reach, beginning with] thy kinsfolk, 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
Almighty Allah's Truth.
