The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 On a grievous day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
