The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 and upraised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
