Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
