Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 By heaven with all its tracks 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Woe to the liars 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask, “When will be the Day of Judgement?” 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And in their property was a portion due to him who begs and to him who is denied (good). 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
