The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
