The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
