Abraham was, certainly, an obedient and upright person. He was not a pagan. 120 Thankful for His bounties; He chose him and He guided him unto a straight path. 121 And We gave him good in this world, and in the next he will most surely be among the good. 122 Then We revealed to you: "Follow the way of Abraham with exclusive devotion to Allah. He was not one of those who associated others with Allah in His Divinity." 123 The sabbath was only appointed for those who differed thereon; and verily thy Lord will judge between them on the Judgment-Day concerning that wherein they have been differing. 124 Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided. 125 Hence, if you have to respond to an attack [in argument,] respond only to the extent of the attack levelled against you; but to bear yourselves with patience is indeed far better for [you, since God is with] those who are patient in adversity. 126 Endure, then, with patience [all that they who deny the truth may say] - always remembering that it is none but God who gives thee the strength to endure adversity - and do not grieve over them, and neither be distressed by the false arguments which they devise: 127 Truly, Allah is with those who fear Him (keep their duty unto Him), and those who are Muhsinun (good-doers, - see the footnote of V. 9:120). 128
